Renewable Energy

In response to climate change, energy clients are diversifying into renewable energy sources such as solar, hydroelectric, wind, geothermal and bioenergy. RCI has been at the forefront of this market, pioneering initially in solar construction.

Let the Sun Shine

RCI was one of the first contractors to construct utility-scaled solar power projects in Ontario, Canada and, since then, has contracted on over 3 gigawatt of solar projects, including over 50 utility scaled solar projects ranging from 1 kilowatt to over 700 megawatt.

Hydro Power

Emerging hydro power trends include carbon neutral retrofits, increased small hydro developments, facility technologization and dam/powerhouse rehabilitation to ensure resilience of critical facilities. Our integrated buildings, civil and industrial expertise ensures we can deliver on any challenge.

Harnessing the Wind

Delivered using our eco-sensitive ‘Good Neighbors’ approach, wind facilities typically include: public roadway improvements, access roads to each turbine, new underground cabling, site excavation, foundation pours, tower erection, nacelle and rotor install, testing and commissioning.
Geothermal
From the scale of multi-MW geothermal power plants to the increasingly common urban district heating systems and/or site-specific geothermal ground loop systems (heat pumps) used to capture ambient heat within the earth, RCIs complex construction expertise drives value and ensures quality delivery.

Bioenergy Systems

From design to commissioning, RCI customizes facilities for specialized applications from municipal solid waste and agricultural waste treatment biogas to RNG (renewable natural gas) to animal waste systems and increasingly, residential systems designed to digest food waste.
